I bought this chair a LOOOONG time ago at a thrift shop. It has a great shape, but I thought it was boring and wanted to "dress it up."
I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with it. For months, it sat in my guest room. (Ok, more like a year and a half.) This past week, I've been in my "projects" mood. So I got busy on this chair and.....
It became a vintage "Feed Sack" chair.
With a little white paint and aged burlap upholstery, it became JUST what I wanted.
The chairs looks great. I love the color change. Can I ask, is the burlap soft. I tried doing a bench seat and no one in my family will sit on it. So, I am afraid I am going to have to change the fabric.
ReplyDeleteYour chair is smiling... it loves it's new look! Sometimes the simple, subtle changes are the best! Enjoy your new seating! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! Alaina, I actually "aged and distressed" the burlap a bit and it seemed to soften it a little. I boiled a huge pot of water, then put several tea bags in it (to give it an aged color.) I soaked the burlap for about 15 minutes. Then I rinsed it and put it out in the sun for a few hours. (This also got rid of that burlap smell!)
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a transformation. Oh you give me hope that I can do this myself one day!!!! Really, WOW. I'm bookmarking so I can remember this!!
ReplyDeleteI love transformations! I just turned my secretary into a bar area in my dining room. I really hope you'll stop by and check it out: http://niagaranovice.blogspot.com/2011/08/picture-is-worth.html
