One Sweet Photo Shoot

Someone has a birthday coming up!!!!!

Our little munchkin will be one. (Wow!) I'm busy planning away! The theme for his party is "Candyland." For the invite, I decided a picture of the birthday boy, a GIANT lollipop, and overalls were in order.

And boy did he love it!

We can't wait for the big day!

A Memory in a Jar

I saw the cutest idea in a Pottery Barn catalog. (Imagine that!) They suggested taking collected items (such as shells, etc.) from family vacations and grouping them together on a bookshelf as a "Memory Shelf." I read this tip as we were en route to Tybee Island and Savannah for a weekend trip.
So, of course, I was sure to fill a giant bag with sand and shells we collected from Tybee, and this time, I WOULD MAKE SURE they became decoration in our home. So, a year passed, and the shells and sand were still in the bag. When I recently got a great deal on some old mason jars, I knew it was time to make something out of it.

I filled the jar with the "treasures" I collected, and cut a piece of burlap to fit the top. I tied it on with a piece of twine and attached a label that read "Tybee Island," and it's now sitting on the old chippy shelf in my kitchen. From now on, every beach we go to, I plan to have a new memory jar on our shelf.

This project reminded me of how much fun we had and was a nice way to relive it. A bit more from Savannah.....

See the little head at the bottom of the picture below? Yeah, that's me. Clearly my husband thought the Pirates House was more interesting than me. :)

Just Enjoy It.

There are certain things you get told in life, and while these pieces of advice make sense, they don't always become a part of you. However, there are a few things you get told time and time again.....and then they stick. Usually, the first time comes from your mother. (Your mother who, growing up, you SWORE was never right....then one day you realized she was.) Then you hear it from countless others who have been in your shoes. You know what I mean "college is the best time of your life" and "slow down and just enjoy your pregnancy".....you get my point.

I have been told more times than I can count that while a misplaced toy/shoe/miscellaneous object is annoying at the moment, one day I will ache for it to be there, and I need to just ENJOY it now.

I had the day off today, and worked very hard to clean the house every free second I got. I tucked the little guy in bed, and walked in to find a toy I had apparently missed in my final "cleanup."

I started to walk over to pick it up, but I remembered all of those words of advice. So I stopped (and took a picture and decided to blog about this little dump truck) and took it all in. I left it there, and in the morning I know little Briggs will come downstairs, rush right over to it, and probably smash it into the door or one of the poor dogs. But right now I know that will happen tomorrow....and down the road I will miss the day I could say that.
